Here we are roughly halfway through May, and not much actual school time left in which to squeeze everything we want and need to do! We are in sight of the end, which means fairly soon we'll be reviewing for the third term finals, and wrapping up all projects and units.
6th Grade Social Studies: We are completing Ancient Greece, moving toward Rome, and will do our best to tackle Ancient Arabia and the Muslim faith. We are focusing on legacies of the Greeks, from democracy to theater, so ask your child to share them with you. Along with that, we're also going over the Odyssey, following Odysseus from Troy home to Ithaca.
6th Grade Religion: We are exploring decision-making skills, conscience, and will soon begin the Building Virtue - Defending Love lessons; these are well-crafted lessons and will definitely be of interest to the students.
7th Grade Social Studies: We are at the end of our Student Lessons, concluding with the California Gold Rush and the Industrial Revolution. After that it's a matter of taking in what we can as the nation moves toward civil war, and learning the fifty states and capitals.
8th Grade Social Studies: World War Two is a wrap as of the final test May 17 and 18; we've already moved into the Cold War and Korean War in class. Decade Projects are due May 18th, and will be a great experience as the students share highlights from their time frame. Our last project is called the Geo-Quest - watch for details soon. |
