The Villa kindergarten program is designed to help each child develop physically, emotionally, and socially by providing a rich variety of activities and experiences. The importance of meeting the individual needs and interests of each child is emphasized through various components of the program. A setting is created that allows the child freedom to explore and discover with an environment that nurtures growth and fosters success. The goals of this program are to provide children with opportunities to develop an eagerness and independence for learning, a positive self-concept, creativity, and an understanding and appreciation of the world about them.

Art
Express self freely with own ideas demonstrating originality, creativity; develop basic skills including cutting, pasting, painting, mixing colors, using different art media.

Computer
Become familiar with the parts of the computer; skills, letters, Kid Pix Program for drawing.

Music (Kindermusik Program)
Enjoy music and participate appropriately in musical activities, including learning songs, using musical instruments, body movement and
rhythm.

Swimming
Fall and spring pool classes are part of the scheduled physical education curriculum.

Language Arts

  • Recognition of letters of the alphabet
  • Beginning consonant sounds
  • Beginning writing
  • Sight word development
  • Developing an interest in literature and poetry
  • Blending word parts and syllabication
  • Segmenting words and sentence

Motor Development

  • Using scissors, crayons, pencils and paint
  • Printing names in manuscript letters
  • Forming letters, words and short sentences
  • Large motor activities such as hopping, skipping, jumping, and catching a ball
  • Beginning swimming skills

God’s Time
Children will retell and discuss bible stories, participate in prayer services, continue to discover God’s gifts and love for each student.
