The VME Tennis Team is open to all 5th through 8th graders.
Coach: Belynda D’Andrea
Assistant Coach: Joy Sullivan
Our first practice will be Friday, Sept. 4th from 10:00 – 12:00
at Asbury Woods tennis courts.
Welcome to the 2015-2016 tennis season! We look forward to working with each of your children, teaching them the basics of tennis as well as the etiquette of the game. Hopefully each player will develop a lifelong love for the sport. Belynda D’Andrea & Joy Sullivan
Sundays 3:00 – 5:00 @ McDowell Tennis Courts (9/6, 9/13, 9/20, 9/27)
Mondays 3:30 – 5:30 @ Asbury Tennis Courts (9/7, 9/14, 9/21, 9/28) SEPT 7TH PRACTICE WILL BE FROM 1:00-3:00.
Please remember water and a snack for practice. There are bathrooms at Asbury where your child can change or they can change at school.
We understand everyone has busy schedules, so it is okay if your child can only make one practice a week or has to leave early. Practices will still be held if there is light rain. Otherwise, we will cancel and try to reschedule.
Only a racquet is necessary. If your child is not certain about playing, we encourage him/her to attend the first practice. We do have extra racquets in the event your child is not sure and you do not want to invest in one yet.
A tennis T-shirt will be issued at the end of September/beginning of October. This will be worn at the diocesan tournament. Shorts/tennis skirts may be of any color. Shorts with pockets are a good idea, if possible.
The tennis season is very short, culminating with the diocesan tournament at Pennbriar Athletic Club. This will take place on Friday, October 2nd (doubles) and Saturday, October 3rd (singles). Everyone is encouraged to play singles. If we have an odd number of players for doubles, someone will unfortunately be excluded or a JV player might have to move up to the varsity level. Please let us know ASAP if you will think you will have any conflicts.
Please read through and sign all the paperwork with your child. Forms can be found on our website under “Athletics”, “Forms & Fees”.
The athletic fee is $42. This includes a $17 diocesan fee, $11 tournament fee, $5.50 ball fee for the tournament and the remainder for a T-shirt and medal. Please make checks payable to VME Athletics. Forms are due no later than Monday, Sept. 14th and can be turned in at practice or to the Athletic Department mailbox.
I will correspond via e-mail throughout the season. In the event that practice needs to be cancelled, I will text and/or make phone calls.
Please feel free to contact Belynda at 866-2522 (home), 746-7989 (cell) or email@example.com.
